Kayaking can be performed safely if you are conscious of your alignment and protecting your core. Do your best to exhale and bring the abs up and in toward the spine with exertions. With kayaking, this will be when your paddle enters the water and you pull. Sitting a bit upright vs. slouching should help a bit too if you are able to position yourself.
