How do I pick up my baby from inside the crib?

Movement Prep: Picking up baby from a crib, positioning

Here is how to safely pick up your baby from inside the crib: When lifting your baby out of their crib always square your body to the crib (no twisting at any point in the lifting process). You will then pull your baby toward you as you exhale and draw your belly back. Always pause and inhale at this point. Then, with your body square to the baby and knees slightly bent, exhale and draw your abs to the spine as you reach down and lift your baby up and over the crib. Never twist while lifting. With your baby held close, turn and walk away from the crib. This is a separate and distinct movement from the lift.
